Title: : Regional ocean model validation in the Argentine Basin

Abstract: Climate models in use by the IPCC do not represent bulk averaged air-sea exchanges accurately under current conditions. We explore the Argentine Basin, a particularly energetic region in the South Ocean, with a general circulation model and an array of observations. Initial and boundary conditions are generated with an assimilated ocean state estimate, the model is run at different resolutions for three month periods during 2016-2017, and observation-model misfits versus time is assessed.
