Abstract: Graphs, transformers, and selected materials science problems

In this talk, I will present an overview of our current research on graphs and transformers applied to materials science problems. Research highlights will include graph neural networks for modeling properties of polycrystals, natural language processing for materials design, and computer vision for microscopic analysis of complex 3D printed metal parts. Open questions as potential Math 586A projects will be also discussed.
