Abstract: : New Frontiers of Sound Science and Technology Center
This is an introduction to the recently-funded Science and Technology Center: New Frontiers of Sound (NewFoS). This center exploits the extraordinary properties of topological acoustic waves to address several scientific, mathematical and technological research challenges and opportunities. These include the development of quantum-inspired acoustic computing, topological acoustic radio-frequency microdevices for wireless technologies, seismic sensing of permafrost thawing in the arctic, and sound-induced symmetry breaking of biological signals.
