Valveless pumping mechanisms for tubular hearts

When

4 p.m., Oct. 20, 2020

Tubular, valveless hearts are prevalent throughout the animal kingdom. Even within the vertebrates, the developing embryonic heart first forms as a valveless tube. In this presentation, I will explore several possible pumping mechanisms, including peristalsis, dynamic suction pumping, and neuromechical pumping.
