When
Graça Rocha is a Staff Scientist at NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) and Associate Academic Visitor at Caltech. She works in cosmology and pioneering the development and use of innovative mathematical and statistical frameworks to analyze astrophysical data, including Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation. She is actively involved in the Planck Mission to better understand the origin of the universe and the formation of galaxies. In 2018, she and the Planck team were awarded the prestigious Gruber Prize in Cosmology.
Come with questions and enjoy informal discussions over lunch with her to get advice about internship/postdoc opportunities, mathematical careers at JPL and NASA, how it has been as a woman in mathematics, and more. Food will be provided!
