Abstract: The mystery of universality of random matrices

In probability theory, it is well–established that the Gaussian universality class is closely related to the notion of independence. We will introduce a new universality class which naturally appears in many correlated systems from several areas of science, including number theory, multivariate statistics, population dynamics, and machine learning. We will see the emergence of several surprising phenomena and the interesting mathematics and physics behind them!
