2024 Don Wilson Fund Recipients:

  • Ari Bormanis was awarded $500 as an off cycle award to attend the SLMath H-principle Summer School in Japan in July, 2024.

  • Jesse Friedbaum was awarded $500 as an off cycle award to attend the ICML: International Conference on Machine Learning in Austria in July, 2024.

  • Adrienne Kinney was awarded $500 as an off cycle award to attend the European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology in Toledo, Spain In July, 2024.

  • Edward McDugald was awarded $500 in the Spring 2024 to attend the SIAM Conference in Pittsburgh in May. 

2023 Don Wilson Fund Recipients:

  • Sarah Pungitore was awarded $500 in the Fall 2023 to attend the AMIA 2023 Annual Symposium in November, 2023.

  • Brian Toner was awarded $500 in the Spring 2023 to attend the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada in June, 2023

  • J. Ruby Abrams was awarded $500 in the Spring, 2019 to give a talk at the SIAM CSE 2019 Conference in Spokane, WA.
  • Justin Crum was awarded $500 in the Spring, 2019 to give a talk at the International Geometry Summit - Solid and Physical Modeling in Vancouver, Canada.
  • Travis Harty was awarded $500 in the Fall, 2019 to present a poster at the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco, CA.
  • Hannah Kravitz was awarded $500 in the Spring, 2019 to attend the SIAM Workshop on Network Science in Snowbird, UT.
  • Kevin Luna was awarded $500 in the Fall, 2019 to give a talk at the 72nd Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society of Fluide Dynamics in Seattle, WA.
  • Nikki Plackowski was awarded $500 off-cycle to attend the 2020 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Denver, CO.
  • Stan Swierczek was awarded $500 in the Spring, 2019 to attend the ECCO Summer School, 2019 at the University of Washington. He was also awarded $500 in the Fall, 2019 to attend the OOI Endurance Array Fall 2019 Deployment Cruise in Newport, OR.
  • Zhuocheng Xiao was awarded $500 in the Spring, 2019 for travel to the 2019 SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems in Snowbird, UT.

2018 Don Wilson Fund Recipients:

  • Victoria Gershuny was awarded $500 to attend the 34th Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting at Caltech in the spring, 2018. She was also awarded $500 to give a talk at the Society of Math Biology Annual Meetings in Sydney, Australia in the summer, 2018.
  • Ammon Washburn was awarded $500 to give a talk at the 2018 INFORMS Optimization Society Conference in Denver, CO in the spring, 2018.
  • Ken Yamamoto was awarded $500 to give a talk at the APS March Meeting in Los Angeles, CA in the spring, 2018.
  • Luke Edwards was awarded $500 to give a talk at the 18th US National Congress for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Chicago, IL in the summer, 2018.
  • Zhuocheng Xiao was awarded $500 to present a poster at the Annual Conference of Computational Neuroscience in the summer, 2018.
  • Kevin Luna was awarded $500 to give a talk at the 71st Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics in Atlanta, GA in the Fall, 2018.

  • Patrick Greene was awarded $500 to present a poster at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Conference in Washington, DC in November, 2017.
  • Travis Harty was awarded $500 to present a poster at the American Geophysical Union Fall meeting in New Orleans, LA in December, 2017.
  • Brian Hong was awarded $500 to present a poster at the 2017 Cardiac Physiome Workshop in Toronto, Canada in November, 2017.

2016 Don Wilson Fund Recipients:

  • Jackson Burton was awarded $500 in February 2016 to attend the World ADC Conference in Berlin, Germany where he gave a talk about mathematical modeling of ADC (anti-body drug conjugates) delivery to tumors.
  • Patrick Greene was awarded $500 In July 2016 to attend the SIAM Conference on Life Sciences in Boston, MA where he gave a talk titled, “Triangulating neurons: spatial localization via extracellular recordings”.
  • Nick Henscheid was awarded $500 in May 2016 to attend the SIAM Conference on Imaging Science in Albuquerque, NM where he gave a talk titled, “Multi-GPU Strategies for Computing Frame Based 3D Reconstructions in Cone-Beam CT”.
  • Andrew Leach was awarded $500 in July 2016 to attend the 11th AIMS Conference on Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations, and Applications in Orlando, FL. Andrew gave a talk at a special session on Modern Applications of Mathematical and Computational Sciences regarding his work with Kevin Lin and Matthias Morzfeld in rare event simulation.  Andrew was also awarded $500 in December, 2016 to present a poster at the American Geophysical Union Fall meeting in San Francisco, CA.
  • Ammon Washburn was awarded $500 in July 2016 to attend the Summer Institute in Statistics for Big Data at the University of Washington, Seattle. Ammon was also awarded $500 in November 2016 to attend the INFORMS 2016 Annual Conference in Nashville, TN where he presented a paper titled, “"Sparse Support Vector Machines with Data Uncertainty".

2015 Don Wilson Fund Recipients:

  • Michelle (Hine) Armstrong was awarded $500 to travel to Stanford University to complete a research project with Ellen Kuhl’s group in February, 2015.
  • Colin Clark was awarded $500 to attend the Geometry and Physics Spatial Random Systems conference in Bad Herrenalb, Germany in September, 2015.
  • Benjamin Holman was awarded $500 to give a special session on Inverse Problems and Imaging at the 2015 AMS Central Spring Sectional Meeting at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI in March, 2015.
  • Andrew Leach was awarded $500 to present a poster at the 2015 SIAM Conference in Applications of Dynamical Systems in Snowbird, UT in May, 2015.

2014 Don Wilson Fund Recipient:

  • Benjamin Holman was the first recipient of the Don Wilson Applied Mathematics Endowed Fund for Excellence which partially funded his travel to present a poster at the Inverse Problems and Spectral Theory conference at Texas A&M on October 17-19, 2014.
