Abstract

Recent discoveries in influenza have spelled trouble for previous models, however they have potentially opened the door for a new area of treatment as well. Beginning with a basic model, we incorporate more realistic biology and show that this improves the model's predictions and changes how the results of previous models are interpreted. Further additions allow us to estimate the effectiveness of a new and potentially revolutionary treatment: defective-interfering particles.
