Abstract: Mechanics of Deformable Solids: Bridging Mathematics and Engineering Worlds

In this talk Prof. Zhupanska will reflect on her training as an applied mathematician and her career as an aerospace and mechanical engineering professor. 

She will discuss how the mathematics subject MSC 74: Mechanics of Deformable Solids bridges mathematics and engineering worlds. 

She will provide examples of her own research in various areas of mechanics including her earlier work in complex variables methods applied to problems

of contact mechanics and her latest research in composite materials and structures.
