Title: Probabilistic 3D Reconstruction and Uncertainty Quantification for ICF Implosions
Abstract: This talk will review the research plan for a University of Arizona funded project on use of generative models and topological data analysis for reconstructing three-dimensional features from simulated Inertial Confinement Fusion Diagnostics. We will review the importance of 3D instabilities in ICF performance, introduce simulated Rocket-piston datasets from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Dec3D ICF Stagnation simulations from the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at University of Rochester. We will then give an overview of the planned use of Diffusion models, Mode connected ensembles and topological data analysis to perform 3D reconstruction from diagnostics with quantified uncertainty and potential applications for improving ICF yield from ensemble predictions as well as additional plausible extensions of this project.
