Title: Mathematical Problems Arising from Multi-energy Computed Tomography
Abstract: Multi-energy computed tomography (MECT) is an x-ray transmission imaging technique that determines the elemental composition of an object of interest by using the energy dependence of x-ray photon attenuation. Forward MECT measurements are mathematically modeled by a nonlinear integral transform for which there is no analytical inversion. In this talk, I will present some of our recent results on the global injectivity of the MECT transform and the stability of its inversion. These analyses provide practical guidance in the design of optimal scan parameters, which will be demonstrated through numerical simulations.
