Title: On Natural Gradient Descent and Its Applications
Abstract: Natural gradient descent was introduced by Amari for the optimization of parametric statistical models and has since found applications in neural network training, PDE-constrained optimization, and machine learning methods for solving PDEs. In this talk, I will introduce the basic ideas behind the method and discuss several applications, including some from my own work.
